- Mauritania announced today that the country is now coronavirus-free, after the last active case (a student from France who had discovered her infection after weeks of quarantine), has recovered. A few days ago, 3 other people had recovered, including an elderly man from France and his wife, in addition to another citizen who had returned from Senegal. The first case in the country was recorded on March 13 in an Australian citizen traveling from abroad. 7 cases have been reported in total, with 1 death and 6 recoveries. Mauritania had closed air and land borders and subjected all returnees from abroad to quarantine, in addition to stopping movement between states [source]
